Our Journey and Mission

Founded in early 2017, The Chequer Inn Ash Society emerged to spearhead the ‘Save’ campaign, aiming to secure the future of our cherished pub. With over 300 members who became shareholders, our mission is to manage and sustain the Chequer Inn as a thriving community asset. Thanks to generous support from the Plunkett Foundation and private lenders, we successfully purchased the pub in April 2018. Our elected Committee, comprising 8 to 12 dedicated members, meets regularly to plan refurbishments and oversee operations, ensuring the pub remains a cornerstone of Ash Village life.

Community Engagement

We actively involve our Members and local residents in decision-making processes and events, fostering a sense of ownership and community spirit.

Financial Stewardship

Our Society manages funds responsibly, ensuring the pub’s financial health and sustainability through strategic planning and transparent reporting.

Property Management

We oversee the maintenance and improvement of the pub’s facilities, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all patrons.
